How do I set MarkdownView as my default .md viewer?
Go to Windows Settings → Apps → Default apps, search for .md, and select MarkdownView.
How do I move MarkdownView to another monitor?
Click the ⇄ button in the top-right corner, or press Win+Shift+← / Win+Shift+→. The button only appears when more than one monitor is connected.
Can I use MarkdownView in a window instead of fullscreen?
Yes. Click the □ button in the top-right corner. Drag the strip along the top to move the window and drag any edge to resize it. Double-click the strip, or click the button again, to return to fullscreen.
The app opens but shows a blank screen.
MarkdownView requires the WebView2 Runtime. On Windows 11 it is pre-installed. On Windows 10, install it from Microsoft's website.
How do I close the app?
Press Esc, Alt+F4, or click the ✕ button in the top-right corner.
Which keyboard shortcuts are there?
Ctrl+F find, Ctrl+Scroll zoom, Ctrl+0 reset zoom, Esc close. The ⓘ button in the top-left corner lists them too.
Can I open a file from the command line?
Yes: MarkdownView.exe path\to\file.md
